Oxon Safe Grip is a surface treatment intended to improve traction on selected compatible tile and stone floors. Suitability depends on the substrate, finish, condition, previous treatments and site environment.

Product information

  • Pack sizes: 250 ml and 5 litres
  • Indicative coverage: up to 50 sq ft for 250 ml and up to 1,000 sq ft for 5 litres
  • Application dwell time: keep the treated area wet with product for 12 minutes
  • Life stated in the supplied product guide: 5 years, often longer

Coverage and service life can vary with substrate, porosity, preparation, application quality, traffic, contamination, cleaning and maintenance. The stated life is manufacturer information from the supplied guide and is not established by the historical slip-test report.

How to apply Oxon Safe Grip

  1. Clean the floor with a brush and remove dirt, grease and grime.
  2. Dry the floor with a mop or cloth before application.
  3. Transfer the product to a plastic container. Do not pour it directly onto the floor.
  4. Wear protective gloves and avoid direct skin contact.
  5. Apply evenly with a suitable brush, roller or sponge. Do not allow the product to dry.
  6. Keep the application area wet with product for 12 minutes.
  7. Wash and brush the floor thoroughly, making sure all product is removed.
  8. Avoid maintenance products that form a coating over the treated floor.

Historical independent test result

Grip Potential Ltd tested a SafeGrip-treated ceramic-tile sample on 11 May 2010 using a pendulum method aligned with BS 7976-2:2002 and the UK Slip Resistance Group guidance cited in the report. The tested sample recorded a mean dry Pendulum Test Value (PTV) of 62 and a mean water-wet PTV of 49. The report classified the tested sample as presenting low slip risk under those test conditions.

Important limitation: the report states that results apply only to the sample and conditions tested and do not imply product approval or endorsement. They are not a guarantee for every substrate, contaminant, application, product batch or site. A current-site assessment is recommended where documented performance is required.

Check compatibility before full application

Do not assume that one treatment is suitable for every tile, stone, sealer or finish. Identify previous waxes, coatings and treatments, then complete a small inconspicuous test area. Stop if the test produces an unacceptable appearance or surface change.

Important safety information

This page is a product overview and does not replace the current label, Technical Data Sheet or Safety Data Sheet. Follow current manufacturer instructions for personal protective equipment, ventilation, first aid, storage and disposal. Do not mix the product with other chemicals unless explicitly instructed. Restrict access during application and rinsing.

Floor-safety limitations

Treatment may improve traction on a compatible floor, but no floor can be guaranteed slip-proof in every condition. Drainage, cleaning, contaminant control, suitable footwear, warning procedures and maintenance remain important.
